Oh hell.
Oh Man From U.N.C.L.E. fandom... I really don't know what to say. Except that I KNOW that Napoleon never fucked a dozen whores in one night. I don't care that he's fictional! He does not have enough sperm for that! Also, he's such a lazy fucker. He'd get through two and then be trying to tag team Illya.

I hate to be all like Older Women >:( WTF? but seriously... that's, um. Kind of creepy. Normally I tend to prefer people who are older than myself, you know, but at this point I really want some more people under thirty-five to like this fandom. At the moment, I'm two parts unsettled and one part on the verge of making an icon that says "I'm 23; I'm not a fucking moron."

Which is a really immature thing to do, but come on. I'm 23.

Would anyone like to enjoy a cheesy 1960s spy show? It's far more fun than they are letting it be. Please, people, let it be fun. :/

...

I think it's ice cream time now.

I can't quite believe it either. I'm always a little surprised when I remember that no one is going to yell at me if I want to get wine or whatever with dinner. Or with ice cream.

He does not have enough sperm for that!

Yes he does. One of UNCLE's first tech innovations (even prior to the pen communicators) was supplementary testicles.

Your comment completely reminded me of a Mr. Show sketch. I couldn't find it on Youtube, so I had to rip it and upload it myself. Because, I mean, it amuses me regardless. But it seemed appropriate when it came to extra genitals.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand that thread pretty much sums up why I did not get into the fandom very much (I was about 21/22 at the time and felt either horribly out of place or got talked down to a lot). And yeah, a lot of them were all 'Well, this one time when I was having hot, prolonged sex with my husband...' and I was all 'I DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT TO UNDERSTAND YOUR STORY'.

LOL oh god that's all exactly it. Ugh. UGH. I can't believe it, but some of it makes me feel so uncomfortable in an "I can't believe you just said that! And you teach some sort of gender theory class!" kind of way. I've never dealt well with being talked down to either; it's a bit arrogant of me, but oh well, that shit drives me nuts. I'm not your kid, ladies, and I'm not your student.

And yes, how is it that aging baby boomer women always seem to have the most broken of TMI filters? :/

I don't think it's really that arrogant to not expect your opinion to be dismissed just because you're young (or younger) -- I mean, I once made some slight criticism that I didn't find Illya's reaction to something to be terribly realistic, and the lady who wrote it sneeringly told me that she would listen to my comments when I'd had a little more 'life experience' and had been married to a man for a bazillion years. Which, yeah, okay, made me a little miffed, seeing as I'd really been saying I wasn't keen on her characterisation of Illya, not commenting on her ability to write male characters or male emotions. Not to mention that I was in my twenties, not fourteen, and had plenty of grasp on adult emotions.

As for the TMI thing, sometimes I just wondering if they want to reassure all of us that although they are older ladies, they still have teh sex! It's not just younger people having all the fun!!!

I think my hesitancy is just this kneejerk cultural idea of "respect your elders," which is sort of hilarious since I've never really respected my elders in my life. Well, not just because they were older, anyway. But yeah, I don't think it's so much to ask... I mean, I think I have no problem treating older adults as peers. Or at the very least not treating them like they are my parents or teachers. Why this doesn't seem to work in reverse for many people (okay, mostly older women) is slightly baffling to me.

My god, seriously? That's amazingly immature. :/

Okay, this just makes me want to issue a statement to the effect of: "I may be younger than you, but I'm also a huge nerd and it's not like I'm out there hogging all of the fun and sex-having."

But then honesty might win out and I'd have to admit that there were some people smoking pot in the living room and trying to play Guess Who. Just not me because I have bad lungs. :(
