Oh good lord, Preston and Child
So I've finally gotten around to reading Wheel of Darkness, because I suck and am dumb. I'm almost at the end and this is what I have gotten out of it so far: Agent Pendergast gets raped by a demon and when he wakes up he's sitting next to Diogenes in their childhood hidey-hole. [ETA: IN HIS MIND. Boy got issues.]

Oh god, magnificent.

Also, Pendergast knows the Kama Sutra quite well (of course he does).

There, that's what I've taken away from this book.

That book killed Pendergast for me. It was more like a poorly done fanfic than a real Pendergast novel. >_

I have to admit that at the beginning I was like, oh god, not more super-sparkly special snowflake pretty tortured Pendergast (with Constance, his super-sparkly special snowflake pretty tortured sidekick!), but once it got off the ground I started to enjoy it for its sheer ridiculousness. LOL mental superpowers, Pendergast being socially retarded and going "hay let's talk about your abortion! :D?" to Constance twice, and Pendergast just generally being sillier than usual. Also, demon rapes wtf wtf wtf.

I miss asshole!Pendergast, though, which is why I went and reread all the good bits of Relic and Reliquary before I got very far into this one. I also want team D'Agosta/Pendergast back, although it looks like that's coming in the next book... but at the expense of Nora and Smithback???? DDDD:

I know! There are few enough characters that I actually care about. Nora is such a delightful bitch and Smithback is such a wonderful skeev.

It isn't fair. >_<

Looking forward to emo-Pendergast though. That should be interesting if not downright amusing.

Oh, it looks like Wikipedia was wrong and they just get attacked in the next book? I don't know, the summary is kind of ambiguous. :/ There's definitely zombies and, I guess, Voodoo stuff going on though. So that should be... entertaining.

I keep thinking that if they couldn't bear to kill of Margo, no way could they off Smithback and Nora. I hope. :(

Yeah, that was my favorite part. :D
