I just remembered something else I wanted to blather about.

In choir we're doing this one song for contest. And about halfway through it starts changing keys every measure.

Is it just me or does that seem reeeeeaaaaally extravagent to anyone else?

And for my singing lessons, I now have to learn one song in Italian andone in English. My English song is "No One Is Alone" from Into The Woods. So that's good. Heck, I've been watching and listening to Into The Woods since I was four... or some other ridiculously young age. It's this Italian piece I'm worried about... *chokes and dies* Grrr... Italian!

And damned if I leave out this quote:

"Listen to the stories, hear it in the songs. Angry men don't write the rules and guns don't right the wrongs."
- "Assassins"
Current Mood: intimidatedintimidated
Current Music: "The Gun Song"- Assassins

I love that song. *g* (Into the Woods is also my favorite musical, and I was terribly distressed when a friend of mine told me one day it's his *least* favorite. He said he hates the music, if one can believe that. Hmph.)

What Italian song are you doing? I like singing in Italian, rather -- it's a hell of a lot easier than French. (And after expressing such preferences ('Can we do some German? I speak German, so that would be fun. French is difficult') my voice teacher my last couple years of college didn't let me do anything *but* French for over a year. Ugh!)

Ah! I can't see how anyone could hate Into The Woods... I mean, I can see how people who are used to The Sound of Music might be a little put off... but outright hating? Gasp!

Then again, I've met people who absolutely loathe musicals. That's something I don't think I'll ever understand. What's not to like about a play where people spontaneously burst into song when the mood strikes them? I wish people did that in real life. It'd be more interesing.

As for my piece, I think it's called "Vergin Tutto Amor"...er... perhaps. Something about a 'vergin' anyway. She hasn't given me the sheet music yet. Grrr.

And, actually... I think I like Italian. I like listening to it. It's just me singing in Italian that I fear. I suspect I'd be horrible at French. Heck, I can't even fake it when I try to help the people who are really in French classes... No, French is evil and confusing.
