Because I know several people on my friendslist are affected by this, I wanted to make a short post to... god, I'm not sure.

At 12:10 AM on July 13, Amanda Fleetwood, known to many here as omichan, passed away.

A news story provides some context, and there are a couple of public posts made in her journal by her girlfriend zully that offer further explanation.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't know her very well at all, although clearly she was a fan of X-Men: Evolution, particularly the Brotherhood, and just from looking at her userinfo and journal I can tell she was far cooler than most. Clearly she's going to be missed dearly.

Honestly, I know my words probably don't mean much. In a lot of ways, this brings back the shock we felt at Miss Leonard's death. I feel similarly helpless trying to find the right thing to say to express condolences or sympathies or just the utter unfairness of something like this. Because, of course, there really are no words.

So I'm just sending love out to all those affected, including but certainly nowhere limited to pyroslut, simmysim, and lawofsyllogism... and, most of all, to zully. I cannot begin to imagine what she's going through. I truly wish there was more I could do.

That is devastatingly sad.

YOU knew Omichan? Small world...
I'm sorry, I'm Shikala, and I've been following some of your fanfiction for quite a while. On a random whim, I popped in to see your LJ.
After I heard about Omi (she's was on my friends list because I thought her posts were hysterical) I cried hysterically. It was bad; I wasn't even close to her.
If you still update, I'd like to add you to my list. Keep up your writing, and I shall keep reviewing.

Randomly, I did a websearch of Amanda's name today. They aired something on our local NBC station here in Houston on her again, about her case being cold and the man who shot her being on the streets still. They did it because today was her 22nd birthday.

This LJ post came up in the websearch; never saw it at the time. Thought you should know that she was a big fan of your Evo fanart. I remember one night her spending hours just giggling and linking me to images. She was a huge Pietro fan.

Thanks for the sentiment. It's appreciated, albeit late on my part.
